Lando Norris could cut the gap to Max Verstappen in the drivers' standings by a further seven points in Singapore. The Briton managed to cross the finish line first at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, and has six weekends left to overtake the Dutchman. According to Norris, however, that will not be easy.

The gap between Norris and his Dutch rival currently stands at 52 points. However, with the frontrunners being everclose to each other, Norris' main goal is to maximise each weekend as they come.

"I can't tell the future. I'm working as hard as I can, like I just said. I'm sure Red Bull and Max are as well. I'm sure there's going to be plenty of competition until the end of the year. As a team, the only thing we can do is to try and score the most points possible, that includes trying to win," Norris revealed.

Norris: 'Max and Red Bull were the most dominant duo in F1 ever'

Verstappen and Red Bull could dominate the F1 grid together in 2023. According to Norris, not much has changed at the Austrians, and they are posing a big challenge. "I still have a lot of points I have got to catch up on, and it's not going to be easy to do it. It's against Red Bull and it's against Max, the most dominant pairing you've ever seen in Formula 1 from last year. And that's not necessarily changed. It’s the same team and is the same driver. So I have some of the toughest competition that I've Formula 1 has ever seen in the sport," Norris added.

Still, Norris also underlined that McLaren have been doing better then their rivals recently, praising his team. The Briton won in Singapore ahead of Verstappen by more than 20 seconds. "We are doing a better job as a team right now because my car and our car is quicker than theirs, but that's just credit to the team doing an amazing job and being smarter and doing cooler things and creating mini DRS flaps and stuff."

"That's the game, and that’s the people we're up against, the people who also do it and people who create these things. So, I'm working hard. I'm working my butt off to try and make sure that happens. He's trying to make sure it doesn't happen. So we'll have to wait and find out," Norris concluded.
