Fernando Alonso is one of the highest regarded sportsfigures in his home country, Spain. The country's only Formula One world champion is an inspiration for many, and now he also features on footballer's shinpads.

Asier Villalibre shared on his Instagram that on one of his shinpads, you can find Fernando Alonso. The current Aston Martin driver is depicted as Jesus, with a dog alongside him and a picture of his old 2005 Renault car, with which he won his first title.

In Spanish social media, depicting the Spaniard as Jesus is common trend, with fans ordering socks and blankets with Alonso's face. Unfortunately for Villalibre, the special shinpad did not bring him any luck, as Alavés lost 2-0 against Getafe Saturday afternoon in the Spanish first divison after he was substituted on in the second half.
