Formula 1 in South Africa: Red Bull travel to Johannesburg
Despite much talk about a possible Grands Prix weekend in South Africa, a deal has not yet been made. Nevertheless, the country got a taste of F1 again (as they previously hosted events in Kyalami), as David Coulthard travelled to Johannesburg to do a showrun.

Coulthard drove the RB7 in Africa, the car the team competed with in the 2011 Formula One Season. Red Bull were crowned constructors' champions and Sebastian Vettel also won his second title that season.
There were plans to host a GP in South Africa once again. However, making a return to the Kyalami circuit have not materialised yet for now. Still, the desire remains in the competition to once again have a race on the calendar in Africa, as CEO Stefano Domenicali and seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton repeatedly said the they should return to the continent.
