Good or bad news for Verstappen? Red Bull releases update on '25 car
After winning all but one race in 2023, Red Bull Racing decided to drastically change their course of development. For this year, rather than continuing with the RB19 concept, they built a car based on a different philosophy. The season started well and looked like it could be another year of domination, however, the recent months have proved difficult for the Austria team to develop further.
Red Bull will introduce a series of sweeping updates to the RB20 ahead of the US Grand Prix, hoping they will allow Verstappen to once again fight for wins. The updates are also crucial for next season. Red Bull have decided that the RB21 will not be a complete overhaul, but an evolution of the current car.
In any case, Christian Horner confirmed this to Autosport: "There are many components of last year's car, which have been carried over to this year, because with the way the budget cap works unless there is a significant performance upgrade, it does not make sense to change [from concept to another]," the team boss said.
Red Bull focus on 2026
2026 will not only see a new generation of F1 cars on the grid but also Red Bull using their own power units in collaboration with Ford. This is where Red Bull have their sights set, preferring not to make a radical change to the direction of the 2025 car.
