De Vries frustrated as he loses points due to penalty

It looked like Nyck de Vries was going to score points in the final Super Formula race of the season, but he lost the chance after he picked up a time penalty. The former Formula 1 driver was disappointed with the penalty and suggested the rules only apply to the racing class in Japan.
De Vries started the race in 17th place and later picked up front wing damage due to a crash in front of him. Scoring points seemed like a slim chance for the Dutchman but he managed to make his way forward. This was partly due to a timely safety car.
How did De Vries react to the time penalty?
He eventually crossed the line in 8th place. After the race, he received a five-second time penalty for pushing Kenta Yamashita wide. Because of this, De Vries finished the race in 11th, scoring zero points.
The former F1 driver disagreed with the penalty he received and shared his upset for his team. Speaking to Motorsport.com, De Vries said he needs to "get used to the very specific rules that apply here".
De Vries expressed his frustration. "I praise this championship because the cars are great, as is the racing itself. But these kinds of rules that have nothing to do with international racing, I find nonsensical."
