Now that the autumn break is about to an end, two tripleheaders await the drivers. In terms of the championship, Max Verstappen needs to try and defend his lead ahead of Lando Norris, beginning with the US GP. Martin Brundle believes the Dutchman is up for the challenge, but also sees Norris improving as well.

Norris must strike now

The gap between the two contenders currently stands at 52 points. Verstappen still carries that lead thanks to his great start to the season, but has not won a Grands Prix since the race in Barcelona, as the RB20 began to show a different face. On the other hand Lando Norris and McLaren are on the rise. The Briton could already dominate once in Zandvoort, and then once again won in Singapore by more than 20 seconds. It is now up to the Briton to match Verstappen's consistency to win his first title.

Brundle: 'Max can turn this his way again'

Martin Brundle thinks Verstappen has been more than prepared for a challenge like this one, as he is chased by the McLaren driver. "No, I don't think Max does seeing out. I think he'll be going for it big time," the pundit underlined to Sky Sports.

"And one of these next six - don't forget we've got three Sprint races as well that will generate some points - I think Max could win one or two of those somewhere and just turn the tables a little bit more," the former Formula One driver continued.

The Briton is encouraged by how Norris could improve as well, with another dominant performance in Singapore. For the first time as well, Norris could lead the Grand Prix on Lap 2, after he started on pole position. "Winning races consistently, he's just started to do that now. Leading from pole at the end of the first lap, he's got that sorted out. And just the way he won in Holland and the way he won in Singapore was just incredible. So, all of those things will give him confidence," he concluded.
