Vettel and Schumacher set to form German 'super team'

Vettel and Schumacher will pair up in the upcoming Race of Champions (ROC) Nations Cup which takes place on day one. The four-time F1 World Champion has previously won the cup with Mick's father Michael Schumacher. They became champions six times between 2007 and 2012. In 2015, Vettel won the individual tournament which took place in London. Vettel and Mick Schumacher also paired up for the event in 2023 and they came second.

What is the Race of Champions?

The Race of Champions is an annual event where drivers from different categories and racing classes come together to race in equal cars, in different conditions. The ROC Nations Cup always takes place on day one where country teams compete against each other, followed by an individual tournament on day two. Vettel is delighted to race with Schumacher.

"I’m delighted to be coming back to the Race Of Champions and teaming up with Mick again. It will be exciting to race in the former Olympic Stadium in Sydney that looks like it will be a great venue for the Race Of Champions," Vettel said in the organisers' press release. Mick Schumacher is also excited about the pairing.

"Australia is one of my favourite places and representing Germany together with Sebastian at ROC Sydney will for sure be big fun. After finishing 2nd in the individual ROC in Sweden in 2023 and in the ROC Nations Cup in ROC Mexico with Seb, the goal this time has to be the overall winners trophy both in the ROC Nations Cup on Friday night and in the individual Race Of Champions on Saturday," Mick Schumacher said.

The 2024 Race of Champions was not held due to uncertainties in the organising country (Sweden). The event returns in 2025 and will be held in Sydney on the 7th and 8th March. The attention of the motorsport world will remain in Australia, as the 2025 Formula 1 season will launch one week later with the Australian Grand Prix. Well-known F1 Names to feature on the list of honours include David Coulthard, Juan Pablo Montoya, Tom Kristensen, Pascal Wehrlein and Romain Grosjean.
