Jordan sees important "mentality change" at McLaren

In the podcast Formula for Success, Jordan and Coulthard discuss the state of the championship. Max Verstappen holds the lead in the Constructors' Championship. Norris needs to bridge a 52-point gap with six Grands Prix and three sprint races remaining. It's a significant lead but McLaren hold the momentum by winning three of the last four races. Both teams are set to introduce upgrades at the United States Grand Prix.

"McLaren is in a different league. And if Red Bull can't find that little touch that they're missing, then I fear for Max. I fear for Max," Jordan said. David Coulthard, who still works for Red Bull, has identified a mentality change. 

"We mentioned earlier in the year that McLaren were still thinking like newbies, newly back in there getting some competitive results. Now I think the mentality has definitely changed to believing they're in the hunt for the championship, they're leading the constructors and it wouldn't take much for them to come away with both the championships this year," Coulthard said. Red Bull Racing secured three one-twos in the opening four races, but Sergio Perez hasn't been on the podium since race five in China. Verstappen hasn't won a race since the Spanish Grand Prix in June.

"There's one thing for sure. Red Bull is not going to suddenly cut off the development and focus on next year. They're going to keep developing right up until the final race and Max is just unbelievable, always full attack, so looking forward to seeing how that battle is won," the Brit concluded.
