Lando Norris P3 Sprint US Grand Prix last lap mistake

Norris reflects on 'disappointing' last lap mistake at COTA

Lando Norris got off to a dream start at the Sprint of the US Grand Prix, and got up to P2 by Turn 4, however, a last-lap mistake cost the Briton a point, as he finished in third position. The Briton was still 'happy' with his result despite the mistake.

"It was a good race. I'm pretty happy with how things ended up," the Briton began to Guenther Steiner after jumping out of his McLaren. "It was a tough one. I thought I could hang onto second but Carlos did a good job. My front tyres were completely finished, so there wasn't a lot I could do."

'Did the most I could'

Norris was close to get into DRS range during the middle phase of the Sprint, however, by the end, the two Ferraris caught up to him. On the final lap, the Briton made a mistake and locked up into Turn 1, that gifted a position to Carlos Sainz.

"Disappointing end but I'm happy with the race result and a good amount of points," Norris continued. "I did the most I could. I don't think we have the pace of Max or the Ferraris, there I'm happy to finish third."
