Verstappen: 'I wasn't worried after I saw Lando after Turn 1'
For the first time since the Austrian Grand Prix's Sprint, Max Verstappen has once again won a race, and also gained two important points on his rival Lando Norris in the drivers' standings. The Dutchman talked about what he expects from tomorrow's Grand Prix following the Sprint event.
While Norris could come close to Verstappen during the middle of the Sprint, the Dutchman eventually broke away, and won confortably on Saturday. From the event today, the Dutchman wouldn't draw conclusions for now. "It's difficult to say. I mean, I think over the whole race distance today, I think Ferrari was very fast. From our side, we'll look into things to improve going into qualifying. But it's a bit difficult to tell at the moment how we would be on full fuel."

Norris had a great start to the Sprint at COTA, something the Dutchman noticed as well, but he wanted on focus on what he can control. "Not worried I mean I looked out in the mirror out of turn one and I saw Lando, ‘oh, he had a good start’ and that's how it goes. And then I just focus on my own race, you know that's the only thing that I can control," concluded the reigning Formula 1 world champion.
Prior to the weekend, Verstappen led Norris by 52 points in the standings, but thanks to winning on Saturday and Norris finished in P3, the gap has increased to 54.
