Provisional starting grid for the United States Grand Prix
Qualifying at the Circuit of the Americas ended in exciting fashion. Norris held the provisional pole, but Verstappen was faster on his final flying lap. The McLaren driver was slower, and Verstappen had a chance at stealing the pole from his championship rival. However, a late yellow flag threw a spanner in the works: George Russell crashed in the final sector, preventing the drivers from finishing their final Q3 laps.
The two competitors will start side by side in Sunday's F1 race. Behind them, Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc will start from the second row. The Ferrari drivers fought fairly but hard with each other during the sprint race. On the third row of the grid are Oscar Piastri and George Russell. The latter suffered a major crash in the closing stages of Q3, bringing an early end to qualifying. Sergio Perez starts from tenth in the second Red Bull and will be hoping to move up the grid.
