A rollercoaster of a weekend continues for Mercedes. After his incident in qualifying, George Russell will have to start the US GP from the pit lane. As a result, Lewis Hamilton gains a position, but it only means he will start from P17 at the Circuit of the Americas.

George Russell crashed his W15 in Q3 on Saturday, that meant that no one could complete their second and final lap of the session. The Briton's car was damaged so heavily that Mercedes had to work more than hours on fixing it following the session. As a result, he is required to start from the pit lane.

Russell would have started from sixth position on the grid, giving him a good chance of scoring points, however, now the British driver is in difficult situation.

It was already a dramatic weekend for Mercedes before it was announced that Russell had to start from the pit lane. The Briton started from P2 at the Sprint event, but lost three places to Lando Norris and the two Ferraris. It not has been a better weekend for his teammate, Hamilton either. The seven-time champion first had yellow flags on his lap in SQ2, then finished in 19th position in qualifying yesterday.
