Norris PENALISED on final lap, LOSES podium to Verstappen!
Similarly to the Austrian Grand Prix, Lando Norris failed to overtake Max Verstappen without leaving the track at the Circuit of the Americas. Unlike in Spielberg, the Briton's decided against giving the position back, and received a five-second penalty.
After a hard-fought battle that lasted several laps, Lando Norris could get past Max Verstappen on Lap 52 into Turn 12. However, the Briton was not ahead at the apex and went wide as he overtook his championship rival, and received a five-second penalty. As a result, he finished behind the Dutchman, and lost three points to him in the process.
What could cause more trouble for Norris is that he is investigated for track limits, as he left the track on four occasions. That can lead to another five-second penalty for the McLaren driver.
