F1 Christian Horner on Max Verstappen Lando Norris

Horner relentless: 'I don't think McLaren have anything to complain about'

Max Verstappen crossed the finish lina at COTA in fourth position, however, he still finished on the podium. That is because Lando Norris received a five-second penalty for overtaking Verstappen while leaving the track. Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner believes McLaren have nothing to complain about.

"For me, it was just clear, the racing rules where, obviously, the pass was made off the track, the rules are very clear with that. There was a penalty for that, and there could have been a penalty for moving under brakes at turn one, and there could have been another one for track limits. So, in the end, I don't think there can be any complaints," the Red Bull Racing team principal told Viaplay after the US Grand Prix..

The team principal then continued explaining what happened between the two into Turn 1 after the start. "Well, he [Verstappen] didn't go off the track, and it's very very clear, the regulations, let them race to the first turn. Max didn't leave the track. That was fair game," Horner concluded.

With five Grands Prix weekends to go, the defending champion took an important step towards winning his fourt title. Verstappen could gain five points on Norris over the last two days, there, the gap between the duo now stands at 57 points.
