Eddie Jordan is said to be part of a consortium that wants to revive the defunct English Rugby team, London Irish. In a report published by The Times, Jordan acts as an investor and adviser for a private equity firm based in Northern Ireland. The former Formula 1 team boss is said to be working with former rugby players Bobby Skinstad and Andrew Mehrtens.

Is Eddie Jordan set to revive a team?

Jordan has had a busy year. The Irishman helped Adrian Newey negotiate a deal with Aston Martin after the top designer announced he was leaving Red Bull Racing. Newey will start working with Aston Martin in March 2025 and focus on their car for when the new rules and regulations are introduced in Formula 1 ahead of the 2026 Formula 1 season. Newey will get to work with Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso. Both Newey and Alonso have previously expressed their desire to work together.

However, according to The Times, Jordan has been working on another project. He is said to be a member of a consortium looking to buy French rugby club AS Béziers Hérault. The consortium is reportedly backed by Strangford Capital. Jordan acts as an investor and adviser for that company.

It has also been suggested that Jordan is trying to persuade Michael Flatley to become an investor and buy London Irish. The former Premiership team entered administration at the conclusion of the 2022/23 season. Irish, therefore, joined Worcester Warriors and Wasps as defunct clubs dropping out of the Gallagher Premiership. Recently, it emerged that the Rugby Football Union is opening up applications for teams to join the Championship.

Jordan wants to mirror the owners of Manchester City football club who also own a group of clubs spread around the globe.
