Villeneuve believes Verstappen is maturing: 'Due to Kelly Piquet'
- Cas van de Kleut
Jacques Villeneuve believes Max Verstappen has matured recently because of his relationship with Kelly Piquet and her daughter, whom they affectionately call 'P'. Since they started their relationship, Verstappen has become a three-time F1 World Champion and is closing down on what could be a fourth consecutive F1 title.
Verstappen has been dating Kelly Piquet since 2020. Kelly is the daughter of three-time world champion Nelson Piquet and the sister of former Formula 1 driver Nelson Piquet Jr. Piquet lives with Verstappen in Monaco with her daughter Penelope.
How did Verstappen become more mature?
In recent years, Villeneuve has seen a positive change in Verstappen's maturity. "He seems to be changing a lot even as a person. That will affect what he wants to do with his life and his racing. He has achieved so much already," the 1997 World Champion told CanadaCasino.ca.
The Canadian former F1 driver continued. "He is maturing as a person. He has been living with the same woman, Kelly Piquet, for a long time and helping to raise her kid, her kid becoming his kid too. He was quite young when they got together. That was not what was expected when he got into F1 and that has probably had a big effect on him maturing as a person. As a driver he was already quite mature. Now he is in a relationship, you can see a big change."
