Bearman and Albon called to the stewards after bizarre FP1 crash
Alex Albon and Oliver Bearman will have to visit the stewards in Mexico to discuss their crash during the first free practice session. It meant both drivers couldn't finish the session and lost vital track time.
Why the two drivers are called to the stewards
Albon was pushing hard and came up behind a slower-moving Ollie Bearman, who tried to stay out of the way. Albon came off the throttle. He couldn't avoid the contact and clipped the front of the Ferrari car, damaging Bearman's car and throwing Albon into the wall.
It will be disappointing for both drivers. Bearman would've wanted to get as much experience as possible in Formula 1 before his full-time driver next season. Meanwhile, it is Albon's only chance to get a full practice session on Friday. If Williams fixes the car, he will return to the track later today, but it is part of a Pirelli test.
