helmut marko responds to the oscar piastri and franco colapinto rumours

Helmut Marko believes he is "once again being accused of things" after denying that he said Oscar Piastri was an option at Red Bull Racing. The Austrian advisor stressed that the Australian cannot leave McLaren easily while also addressing the rumours surrounding Red Bull and Williams driver Franco Colapinto.

'Piastri and Colapinto not options for Red Bull' says Marko

At the Mexican Grand Prix, Marko was asked about the earlier statements he made regarding Piastri. According to F1-Insider, the Red Bull adviser is believed to have said that Piastri's manager Mark Webber is 'intensively seeking talks'. But now Marko has said that the conversation was taken out of context, and now, he is being unfairly criticised for this. "As far as I know, he still has two years of his contract left," he told Sky Sports.

Besides Piastri, the young Argentine of Colapinto was also mentioned as a possible candidate for Red Bull. However, the 81-year-old Austrian also ruled that rumour out. Marko continued by saying the chances of the Williams driver moving to the sister team of VCARB are low for a similar reason to Piastri: "As far as I know, he has a long-term contract at Williams."

Along with this, Marko insisted that Red Bull have lots of talent at their disposal to fill out the line-ups of both teams: "At the moment, we are actually in a good position with our juniors. We are not going to train a driver for another team." As a result, the possibility of loaning Colapinto from Williams to Red Bull would not be an option, according to the advisor.
