Perez gives excuse for his Q1 elimination in Mexico: 'Can't stop the car!'

Sergio Perez failed to escape Q1 in qualifying for the Mexican Grand Prix. The Red Bull driver has since explained what went wrong for him in front of his home fans. He will start from 18th on the grid.
"I've been struggling quite a bit with braking. Every time I try to brake and attack the braking, I just put too much energy through the tyres and that makes it very tricky for me to stop the car," Perez said.
Can Red Bull Racing solve Perez's problems?
The braking problem is not a new problem the Mexican is facing. "It's been there for the last three races where I cannot stop the car. I'm having to modulate quite a lot my braking. And that's something we can see in the data, but we are not able to fix it at the moment," Perez said in the paddock.
"The issue we face is mainly on the straight line. I cannot stop the car. Like bigger braking zones. I just slide too much. Given that it's all surface sensitivity here, it makes it a lot harder," the Red Bull Racing driver concluded.
