'Disappointed' Russell in favour of making sacrifices after Wolff warning

After two costly accidents in two weekends for George Russell, the Mercedes driver has reflected upon why these accidents have happened and the impact that they will have on the rest of the season for his team. Team Principal Toto Wolff did not seem optimistic about how the team will finish the 2024 season.
Russell has been unhappy with the unpredictability of his car’s performance this weekend. Speaking about his accident in FP2 in Mexico he said, "In FP1 I did four laps using the kerb and there was no problem. And then suddenly, you saw the replay, I hit it and it was like I was a kangaroo. And that was really disappointing."
Russell: ‘We may have to compromise the rest of this season’
While Toto Wolff seemed stressed about the team’s budget cap on Friday, the British driver doesn't share the same fears. In response to questions about the cost of repairs and new parts, Russell confidently stated, "No concerns with the budget cap because we've always got a bit of margin and you're always weighing up what you've put into this season versus what you've put into next season."
Although Russell is not worried about his accident having a negative affect. "Now potentially we may have to compromise the rest of this season, which to be honest I'd probably be in favour of because we're not fighting for a championship. I'd be more than happy staying on the old floor if that gives us a better chance into next year."
