Leclerc drops F-bomb at press conference: 'I don't want to join Max!'
A controversy from earlier this season was brought up at this weekend's Mexican Grand Prix. After Max Verstappen previously swore at the Thursday press conference in Singapore, the Dutchman had to visit the stewards and received a penalty. Now, the same faith could await Charles Leclerc, who quickly realised his mistake in Mexico City.
Leclerc drops F-bomb in Mexico
After long debates about should the drivers be allowed to swear, Max Verstappen did receive a community service penalty for saying his car was "f***ed" back at the Singapore Grand Prix. Now, Leclerc is the next driver who swore during a press conference, following the Mexican GP.
The Monegasque driver was talking about losing his Ferrari exiting the final corner at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez as he was chased down by Lando Norris. "So again, I felt like it was a matter of laps, but I was still trying to do everything possible for him to overheat behind me and keep him as long as possible behind me. So, I tried to have the best exit possible. I could see that he was very close out of that corner," he began.
"I lost the rear and then you forget about Lando and you just hope that you are going to take it back. I had one oversteer and then when I recovered from that oversteer, I had an oversteer from the other side and then I was like, ‘f**k’," Leclerc said.
Then, he quickly realised what happened. "Oh, sorry! Oh, no, oh no! I don't want to join Max!" he said jokingly. His teammate, Carlos Sainz could also only make fun of the situation: "You have your wallet here?" the Spaniard asked.
"Then I was just hoping to bring the car to the finish line and get that third place," Leclerc then concluded his story.
