For the second media day in a row, Fernando Alonso will not be present in the paddock. After missing last week's media day at the Mexican Grand Prix, the Spaniard will not be in the paddock of the Interlagos circuit on Thursday, as once again he is suffering from illness.

Ill Alonso back in Europe to recover

The Aston Martin driver will not be at the media day in Brazil as he has suffered an intestinal infection ahead of the Grand Prix weekend in Mexico City. After the race, he returned to Europe for further treatment. Because the treatment took a day longer, he will not be in Brazil on time, but he will be back i time for the racing this weekend. This was all reported by his team Aston Martin on Wednesday.

"Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team confirms that Fernando Alonso will miss his media day activities in Brazil. Fernando had suffered with an intestinal infection in the lead-up to the Mexico City Grand Prix. He returned to Europe to receive further treatment from a specialist. The extra day of treatment has delayed his travel plans to Brazil but ensures he will be ready for this weekend's racing," said the British team

Alonso missed the first two free practice sessions on Friday in Mexico last weekend because of his intestinal infection. On Saturday and Sunday, he did 'just' come into action. The Spaniard drove his 400th Grand Prix weekend, but unfortunately, he was forced to retire from the Grand Prix early.
