Hamilton 'encouraged' by Ferrari's improved performances

Lewis Hamilton has been "encouraged" by the recent performances of Ferrari as he prepares to make the huge transfer to the Scuderia for the 2025 season. The seven-time world champion will be leaving Mercedes after joining them in 2023, and he will now look for his record-breaking eighth world title with an improving Ferrari team.
It has been an up-and-down year for the Prancing Horse in 2024, but since the month-long autumn break, Ferarri have shown that they are the team to beat, finding some brilliant pace to take back-to-back wins at the United States and Mexican Grands Prix, showing signs that they could give Hamilton a title-winning car for the 2025 season.
Hamilton was asked about the Maranello-based team's 'encouraging' performances as the 2024 season nears its end, and the Brit said, "Of course. At the beginning of the year, if you look somewhere like China, for example, Red Bull were a second ahead. It has been quite incredible to see McLaren rise, and then Ferrari in the last few races. It is interesting to see their progress and just try to keep an eye on everyone's car and what they're changing and adding."
What can Mercedes do at Interlagos this weekend?
"It's been a very turbulent year. I think we always arrive with confidence and with a positive mental attitude. But the car is just, I don't know how, I'm sure it's similar for the other drivers, but there are glimpses of hope and then things swing back and forth. Whether it's tyres, whether it's the aero. So you never know what you're going to get. I always feel like Forrest Gump when I say that! But the last race was really positive for us in terms of the end result." Hamilton finished fourth in Mexico City, while his teammate George Russell was fifth.
