Aston Martin confirm good news: Alonso can return to action in Brazil
After Fernando Alonso travelled back to Europe for a treatment of previous illness and had to take an extra day off, the Spaniard arrived to the F1 paddock on Friday, back in time for the action on track in Brazil.
The Aston Martin driver struggled with an intestinal infection ahead of the Mexico Grand Prix, and returned to Europe after the race for further treatment. Because that took more time than expected, he could not make it in time to Sao Paulo, his team announced on Wednesday.
Alonso back on the F1 paddock
Fernando Alonso will now be back in the Formula One paddock in Sao Paulo as scheduled, and will take part in FP1 and then Sprint Qualifying later today. The Spaniard has also missed media day a week ago in Mexico City, where he also then competed throughout the entire weekend.
While the two-time champion can return, Kevin Magnussen will miss Friday in Brazil. The Dane is ill, and will be replaced by Oliver Bearman. As a result of missing from sprint qualifying, the Dane will not be on the grid for the Sprint either, so he can return Saturday afternoon for the regular qualifying.
