Leclerc doesn't get away with swearing, has to report to stewards
Charles Leclerc did not get away with swearing after the Grand Prix in Mexico City, after he 'dropped the F-bomb' last Sunday. Max Verstappen was given community service for saying the same word, and was later surprised Leclerc was not yet penalised. That might change now.
After the Mexican Grand Prix, where he finished in P3, Leclerc attended the FIA press conference. When describing the moment he nearly crashed out in the final corner, the Monegasque driver used the word 'F***'. He then joked about not wanting to join Verstappen in doing community service as a result for swearing.
Penalty for Leclerc?
Leclerc must still report to the stewards in Brazil, at 17:45 local time (20:45 GMT) Leclerc. Verstappen was given community service by the FIA earlier this year for using this word, so a similar punishment can be expected for the Ferrari driver.
In doing so, the stewards are responding to Max Verstappen's complaint, after he was surprised that Leclerc did not have to go to the stewards, while he was given a penalty that same weekend. After the hearing, it will be announced whether Leclerc would receive the same penalty.
