At what he considers his second home, Brazil, Lewis Hamilton only finished in P11 in SQ2. Together with the Briton, Sergio Perez was once again eliminated early on in a qualifying session.

Hamilton previously had problems with bouncing, saying in FP1 that he was 'actually in pain'. Then in SQ2, the seven-time world champion was eliminated, as he finished in P11 behind Alexander Albon.

After he got a new chassis, Sergio Perez was also eliminated in the second session of sprint qualifying. The Mexican finished only in P13, after he could not complete his second run.

Together with the aforementioned drivers, Nico Hulkenberg, Franco Colapinto and Valtteri Bottas were also eliminated in SQ2.
