Remarkable social post from Hill after Verstappen won in Brazil

Damon Hill has made a somewhat ironic post on social media that has caused a storm in the replies. The former Formula 1 World Champion stated that Verstappen "silenced a few critics" after his performance during the Brazilian Grand Prix despite being one of the Red Bull driver's most vocal critics after Mexico.

Damon Hill was impressed by Verstappen's performance, which saw him win from 17th on the grid in wet and challenging conditions. He managed to battle his way through after a frustrating qualifying session earlier in the day. Hill posted on X to show how he was impressed.

War of words between Hill and Verstappen

Fans replied to Hill's comment cynically. For example, someone asks "including you?" and someone else states "including yourself?". Some wonder if Hill himself realises that he is among Verstappen's critics and still others point to Verstappen jokingly noting that there was no British press present at the press conference.

This post can be seen as ironic after the pundit criticised Verstappen heavily between the Mexican and Brazilian Grands Prix. The Brit made many negative comments about Verstappen's driving style and once compared him to Wacky Races villain cartoon character Dick Dastardly. Verstappen hit back during the press conference explaining that he knows what he's doing as he is a three-time World Champion. Hill also highlighted how a number of rules were introduced because of the Dutchman's behaviour.
