What happened to Stroll on the formation lap in Brazil? The Canadian reacts
Chaos at the 2024 Sao Paulo Grand Prix already began before even the five red lights go out. During the formation lap, Lance Stroll was already eliminated from contention, after getting stuck in the gravel trap. The Canadian reacted to the incident after the race to Viaplay.
During the formation lap, Lance Stroll lost control of his Aston Martin entering Turn 4. The Canadian driver could continue, but then got stuck in the gravel trap, causing the start to get aborted. That also caused more chaos, given that four drivers including Lando Norris took off for a second formation lap when the lights were still yellow.
"I think we had a brake failure. So as soon as I touched the brakes, I locked the rears and I was a passenger from there. So I'm pretty sure it was a brake failure," Stroll about spinning out.
He then got stuck in the gravel trap, after he tried to return to the track. "That was just my mistake. I thought I could cut back and then the gravel was too deep. So we got beached from there. That was the bigger disaster after the disaster. So yes, bad day."
