Special F1 car under the hammer: Schumacher's final Ferrari to be auctioned
Michael Schumacher's final Ferrari Formula 1 car, the 2006 Ferrari 248 F1 car, will be auctioned soon. It finished second in the 2006 Formula 1 World Championship, with Schumacher winning seven Grands Prix in that season. His teammate Felipe Massa won two races.
Schumacher competed for his eighth world title in 2006 after Fernando Alonso broke his successful run a season earlier. However, the German finished second that season. Schumacher walked away from the sport after the season, and it is the final car Schumacher won in. He returned with Mercedes to compete in the 2010, 2011 and 2012 seasons.
How much will the car sell for?
The Ferrari 248 F1 should fetch several millions. You will have to dig deep into your pockets. The chassis will be auctioned by RM Sotheby's in New York on 14 November. Ferrari's 2006 car is a special one, as it was the first Ferrari car since 1964 to have a V8 engine in the back again.
Over the years, several of Schumacher's Ferraris have been auctioned off, each with a hefty price tag. In 2022, for instance, a Ferrari F2003-GA was auctioned for a whopping $15 million, and a 1998 F300 was sold for over $6 million the same year. An F2001 brought around $7.5 million at auction in 2017.
