Horner has clear message for Perez: "We need Checo, he recognises that"

Christian Horner once again underlined that Sergio Perez has to improve his performance at the end of this season. That is not only for himself or to help Max Verstappen in his quest for his fourth title, but also for Red Bull Racing to have a chance at winning the constructors' championship this season.
Horner increases pressure on Perez
At the Sao Paulo GP, Sergio Perez once again finished outside of the points, while Verstappen went on to win after starting from P17 on the grid. As a result, rumours about who should the Dutchman's teammate next season once again started to circulate. While many names are mentioned in the conversation, Christian Horner wants to focus on the current tripleheader ahead.
"Formula One, as we know, is a results-based business. And Sergio is very, very aware of that. And he's not happy with how the season has gone for him, as you would expect. So, yes, he's big enough and old enough and wise enough to recognise that," the team principal told talkSport.
"But our focus is very much still on the Constructors' Championship as well. And we need Sergio to be up there scoring in these last races or last three races if we were to have any chance of challenging either Ferrari or McLaren," he added. McLaren currently lead the constructors' championship at the moment, with three Grands Prix weekends to go. Red Bull currently trail the Woking-based team by 49 points. Moveover, Ferrari are also ahead of the Austrians by 13 points in the standings.
