Eddie Jordan with a solution to the steward problem
16 November at 07:00

The last triple-header came with a lot of controversy regarding penalties. At the US Grand Prix, Lando Norris was penalised after running wide during his fight with Max Verstappen, whilst the Dutchman received two 10-second time penalties in the following race in Mexico. Eddie Jordan has given his opinion on the situation, and believes he knows what the solution looks like.

"When you have the level of expenditure the level of outlay of hard cash in such a prestigious sport. I mean we must be careful that we do not let ourselves get into a situation where we've got a football equivalent of VAR in our motor racing. So I think we need fairness. I think we need to have somebody who's really skilled and by that I mean I think we need lawyers." Jordan said on his Formula For Success podcast.

Jordan on Verstappen

On the podcast, the Irishman aslo called for more communication between the drivers and the stewards so that the drivers have some confidence in who is actually making the decisions. "Then you don't have the annoyances Verstappen has been talking about," Jordan continued, who then went on to say he thought that the penalties Verstappen received in Mexico were "nonsense"

"I look at the screen and think this is a great fight and the next moment I see five-second penalty, 10-second penalty. It's so damn boring."
