Schumacher and Hamilton share this quality: 'Both are very good at that'
While Nico Rosberg often appears in Sky Sports Formula One coverage, the German is not sitting still outside of the competition either. The 2016 world champion also is now also managing a $100 million fund, where his experience from driving comes into play as well.
Settling into this new world, the German takes advantage of his previous work: being a Formula One driver. He has a great icebreaker in his hands, as he gets to introduce himself as a Formula One world champion, he explained to Forbes.
What did Rosberg learn from his world champion teammates?
During his time at Mercedes, Rosberg could compete with and against the only two seven-time world champions of the competition: Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton.
Michael Schumacher returned to F1 in 2010, after he first retired after the 2006 season. "By the time he returned, he was probably close to being a billionaire. He's been out of the sport for two years, had a happy life, came back. And just the work ethic when he came back was phenomenal. The details he was going into, the effort he was putting into in terms of building those relationships with the whole team. Incredible. The way he was preparing himself physically. The warrior attitude that he brought into every day was phenomenal," Rosberg said about the Schumacher.
Then, after Schumacher left for the second time, another world champion joined Rosberg: Lewis Hamilton. The Briton, who is now set to leave Mercedes after spending more than a decade with the team also locked horns with Rosberg many times. Rosberg also called Hamilton the 'greatest of all time'.
Not only learning from his data, but Rosberg also saw another quality that makes Hamilton stand out. "He was very smart also then internally in the team, working with everybody in the team, building those relationships, he was very smart. Even working with the media, he was extremely smart."
