Herbert on more women in paddock: 'There has been a shift'
Johnny Herbert shares how he has noticed a shift in Formula 1's media landscape regarding the growing number of women who have become interested in the sport. The steward and former racing driver also reacted to the news that Damon Hill has decided to quit from his role at Sky Sports.
Herbert was an analyst for Sky Sports from 2012 to 2022 and has noticed lots of changes as the sport has evolved over the years. "There has been a shift and there are a lot more women in the paddock which is a good thing. But experience pays dividends for the fans who are watching," Herbert told FlashscoreUSA in conversation.
Herbert on Hill departure
Herbert does not understand why Hill is no longer with Sky Sports. "There is always a time when refreshing a team will come into play. Knowledge is very important. You have Damon Hill, the 1996 world champion. Why would you not want him part of it because of the knowledge he has gained through the good and bad times?" said the former driver who has driven in 165 Grands Prix.
"I only won three Grand Prix but my knowledge and experience of really dark times when I had my accident and the best of times when I finished fourth in the driver’s championship, helped me," the Englishman went on to explain.
