Merdcedes to 'struggle more' according to Hamilton
- Savannah Lenz
The Mercedes drivers and cars were very dominant this weekend. They led all three practice sessions, and George Russell started on pole. In addition to that, Russell managed to win his second race this season. But are the drivers expecting issues to arise? Lewis Hamilton is.
During a media interview, Lewis Hamilton was asked about Mercedes's dominance this weekend and whether he had faith in the car's future. His answer? It's not very motivating for Mercedes fans.
Hamilton has doubts about the rest of the season
The entire season, Hamilton has had issues with his car. Despite the ongoing problems, this weekend at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, he managed to secure himself 2nd place. Unfortunately, he does not see the car continuing to be as good as this weekend. He admitted that both the Mercedes team and him "have no idea. I don't think anyone in the team knows why we're as quick as we are this weekend".
Another unfortunate thing he said was that he expected to struggle during the Qatar aGrand Prix. "But I think often, in the hotter conditions, we struggle more. We're going to maybe Qatar". Trying to spin a positive light on their situation, he did take to defend Qatar, adding in some comments about how "it's a little bit cooler there. And the track is very smooth. So maybe we'll not be too bad at that track". Only time will tell if Mercedes is prepared for the last two races of the 2024 season.
