Norris is worried about the state of McLaren
- Savannah Lenz
Lando Norris is not worried about the constructors' championship. He is concerned about the state of McLaren's current Formula One car, MCL38. "[The constructors']doesn't really matter, for us it's-- of course it matters, but I don’t think of those things. I think of how bad our car was today".
In a post-race interview, Norris was asked if he was thankful that Meceredes was so strong today. This question was regarding the World Constructors' Championship. Norris isn't concerned with Mercedes's performance. He is concerned about his.
Norris is struggling with his car
Both McLaren drivers failed to outscore the Ferrari drivers, which was their goal for this weekend. However, they could not achieve this. Norris says it's due to the car's conditions. "Clearly, we have a lot of work to do with our car. It's too difficult to drive. It doesn't work in these conditions". Norris also mentioned that they constantly have issues with low downforce tracks like Las Vegas. "It doesn't work in many other tracks where we've had similar conditions, but we've been able to get everything out of it sometimes". Unfortunately for the constructors' battle, this was not one of those times.
This is not the first time he says they have had issues with the car, and he hits back at those who say he has the fastest car of the season. "Even when people think we've had the best car, and we've absolutely not, we could have still won some of those races, and those were great weekends. But this weekend, even if I feel like I drove pretty well, I could not get anything more out of it, and if I tried, I probably would have ended up in a wall somewhere".
