Horner excited for a "thriller" of a season next year in F1
Max Verstappen may have won his fourth consecutive drivers' world title, but Christian Horner believes that next season in Formula 1 "will be a thriller". The Dutchman sealed the championship after finishing ahead of rival Lando Norris at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, cementing his status as one of the greatest drivers the sport has ever seen.
Howeer, it had not been plain sailing for Red Bull Racing and Verstappen. There were major struggles with the RB20 throughout the middle of the season, with the Dutchman not winning a race between the Spanish and the Brazilian Grands Prix. However, with some super performances despite a lacklustre car, he sealed the title with two races remaining.
The big question is now, will Red Bull be able to give Verstappen another championship-winning car in 2025? "Well, I think we don't know what the others are doing. We're a team that would rather understate and over-deliver, and with stable regs, you can see how the cars have converged. It's great for the sport, but there's so much competition," Horner began while speaking to GPblog and others.
Horner expects a close season after 2024 worries
"I've got a few more grey hairs this year, but I think I think next year will be a thriller. But I think that you know we've got the best driver in our car and I think we've got the best team as well. So we'll work very hard over the winter to improve on the weaknesses of RB20," the British team principal concluded.
Before the 2025 season begins, two more Grands Prix are scheduled in the premier class of motorsport. First, Formula 1 will travel to Qatar for the final sprint race of the season, and then the teams and drivers will move on to Abu Dhabi, where tests will also be held ahead of the 2025 season after the season finale.
