Cadillac to be the next top team in F1? 'They can attract the right people'

Kevin Magnussen failed to secure a Formula 1 seat for 2025 and does not yet know where he will continue racing. Meanwhile, Magnussen is impressed by the new Cadillac Formula 1 Team, who will join the sport in 2026 as an 11th team.
Mario Andretti informed GPblog that he would like to put an experienced F1 driver alongside prospective driver Colton Herta. Magnussen would fit that profile perfectly. Moreover, he has experience with Cadillac, as he drove with them in IMSA. From experience, the Haas driver can say that the parent company's facilities, General Motors, are excellent.
'With Cadillac, I'm sure it will be fine'
"I went there to drive the simulator once, and it doesn't even matter what they have there. It's GM, they can do whatever they want," Magnussen stated to GPblog and others. By this, he means that General Motors is such a big company that the budget required to make the F1 adventure successful is virtually unlimited.
"A big OEM [original equipment manufacturer] like that, they can do what they want. They can attract the right people," Magnussen said, although he immediately comes up with an example of a team that did not become successful despite having a lot of money. "You go back to Toyota when they came into Formula 1, they had a go or whatever, and they had all the money in the world and they didn't succeed. But that was kind of unique. I think as a manufacturer like GM, they have the opportunity to attract the right people and just do it the right way. That should be good."
