Verstappen experiences recurring problem with RB20: 'The car is off'
After winning his fourth title in Las Vegas, Max Verstappen finished sixth in sprint qualifying at the Qatar GP. The Dutchman believes he has maximised his result given the performance of the RB20.
Verstappen reflects on Day 1 in Qatar
In Las Vegas, Verstappen could cross the finish line ahead of Lando Norris, and was crowned champion for the fourth time in his F1 career. There is less pressure on the Dutchman now, but he would hardly be satisfied not getting results in Qatar and then in Abu Dhabi.
After the Dutchman finished in P6 in SQ3, he talked about where he lost time. "It is super tight out there and we lacked pace today. We don’t really have the balance to attack entry to mid corner, the high speed is okay, but overall our car is just a bit off," Verstappen said in the team's press release.
After the session, the now four-time world champion is yet to see how things will progress at the Losail International Circuit. "P6 isn’t where we want to be but was the maximum we could achieve today. It will be tough to fight the cars around me but hopefully we can push a bit more during the Sprint. For Qualifying we will look to improve the situation, but we will see what happens on track tomorrow," the Red Bull Racing driver concluded.
