Debate | Norris and Piastri deliver McLaren the Constructors' in Qatar
The 2024 F1 season has nearly reached its end. Max Verstappen has won the the drivers' championship battle, but the constructors' title is yet to be decided. McLaren could mathematically secure the title already in Qatar, but Ferrari are trying hard to prevent that from happening.
The 2024 season began with Max Verstappen winning early on, four times in five Grands Prix, and only missed out on victory when he had a DNF in Australia. It seemed like a formality that Red Bull Racing would once again win the constructors' title, but cards have been reshuffled after the Miami Grand Prix.
With McLaren, Ferrari and also Mercedes improving, by the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the Woking-based team could overtake Red Bull in the standings, and now Ferrari are also ahead of them. Now, the Austrians only have a mathematical chance to win the WCC, trailing the Woking based team by 53 points.
After sprint qualifying, McLaren have the upper hand on chasers Ferrari. Lando Norris took pole position for the Sprint and Oscar Piastri finished in P3, while Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz finished fourth and fifth respectively.
Currently, 24 points separate these two teams, and McLaren could secure the title with a strong result at the Losail International Circuit. Could they be crowned this weekend? Vote and let us know in the comments below!
