FIA to revise their policies?
Recently, the governing body FIA have made the headlines on multiple occasions. President Mohammed Ben Sulayem responded to the GPDA's open letter, (now former) race director Niels Wittich was let go and replaced by Rui Marques, and other important figures left.
According to BBC Sport, the federation now plan to revise how they operate. If completed, the FIA president would remove the role of the compliance officer and the senate in his operations, meaning that he would have more free reign overall.
Wolff addresses emotional goodbye message to Hamilton
After it was announced ahead of the beginning of the 2024 season that he will leave for Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton drive a Mercedes car for the final time in Abu Dhabi. Team principal Toto Wolff shared a statement reflecting on what they could achieve together, saying that the British driver will always be part of the 'Mercedes family'.
"We will celebrate the partnership, and the relationship that we had. Then those few races will be forgotten quickly. As much as it hurts at the moment," the Austrian previously told GPblog among others in Qatar about the emotional goodbye.
Verstappen ready for break, Iwasa to drive in FP1
As the final Grand Prix of the season will take place this weekend in Abu Dhabi, Max Verstappen is ready to have his well-deserved break. "It has been a long season and we are ready for a bit of time off and to spend quality time at home with family and friends. The Team have worked incredibly hard this season and everyone deserves a break to relax once the season has wrapped," he said, the team report.
McLaren CEO Zak Brown also shared where his relationship stands with the now four-time world champion. Talking to De Telegraaf, the American explained that Verstappen is a 'smart' person, who knows he is not the target of these 'games' between McLaren and Red Bull.
It was previously confirmed that Isack Hadjar will drive Max Verstappen's car in FP1 in Abu Dhabi. Today, it was announced that another driver in the Red Bull family, Yuki Tsunoda, can also 'rest' during that session. Fellow Japanese driver, Ayumu Iwasa will test for VCARB this Friday morning.
