Russell unveils helmet for Abu Dhabi GP: Tribute to last race Hamilton
- Estéban den Toom
George Russell has unveiled his helmet for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Next weekend, the Yas Marina Circuit will host the final race of the 2024 Formula 1 season. For Russell, the race is less special than for Hamilton. For the seven-time world champion, it means not only the last race of the season, but also his last race with Mercedes, hence Russell's special helmet.

It was announced at the start of the season that Hamilton will drive for Ferrari in 2025. The Italian Scuderia announced that there was no more room for Carlos Sainz, and it would be Hamilton who would drive alongside Charles Leclerc in the new Formula 1 season. The helmet for Russell is completely blue and there is a message on the back for Hamilton.
"Amazing how time flies," it says on Russell's helmet. "From waiting for your autograph as a 10-year-old to being teammates for three years. It's been an honour mate!", Russell wrote on X.
