Max Verstappen had a magnificent save coming out of the last corner of the Yas Marina Circuit, during his first run. The Red Bull driver explained after qualifying the reason for his struggles and gave insight as to how the team can deliver a good race on Sunday. Should the problems be improved, Verstappen senses there could be a decent result form him in the cards tomorrow as well as next season.

The 2024 World Champion certainly left a lot of lap time on the table following his slide during the last part of his first Q3 run, which eventually put him fifth behind Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri, Charles Leclerc and Nico Hülkenberg. The Haas driver, however, received a grid penalty for passing two cars at the end of the pit lane and will start the race tomorrow in P7.

Verstappen and Red Bull vying for another title in 2025?

"I should have been on the front row, so then it's still not bad", the reigning world champion admitted after qualifying. Looking onward to 2025, the Dutchman spoke about his expectations for next season. "I know that if we fix our problems, we will pick up a lot of lap time, but it's about fixing those problems, " Verstappen continued.

The four time World Champion knows that if they fix the RB20's balance issues, they will be able to fight for lofty goals come 2025. "I think our balance shift that we have makes it very difficult to find a good compromise with, basically, the tools that you have in the car, so we need to work on that for next year. If we can fix that I'm confident we have a quick race car", Verstappen concluded.
