Marko confirms meeting on Monday: 'Then we will make a decision'
- Estéban den Toom
Helmut Marko announced after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix that a decision on Sergio Perez's future with the team will be made on Monday. The announcement will likely take some time, but the 81-year-old Austrian explained that a meeting is scheduled the day after the Abu Dhabi race.
When Motorsport.com asked Marko whether a meeting would take place on Monday, Marko responded in the positive. "Yes, and in it, all the facts will be discussed. At the end of that, a decision will be made. The line-ups of both teams will be decided tomorrow," the Red Bull adviser said.
Marko: 'Announcement after Tsunoda test'
Another test will also take place on Tuesday at the Yas Marina Circuit. Yuki Tsunoda will be in the car on Red Bull's behalf. Marko told us that the decision about Perez's future with Red Bull Racing would only be announced after Tsunoda had completed the test. "When that decision will be announced... I don't think it will be on Monday. Of course, we will wait for Yuki's test with an announcement."
"That will be the discussion tomorrow, but with many more facts added," Marko explained. Perez's race in Abu Dhabi did not go well; in fact, he could not finish it. "Unfortunately, his clutch burned up again. That also happened in Qatar, so we have to investigate how that can be. In any case, it's not a good end to the season."
