Max Verstappen received a 10-second time penalty during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. At the first corner, the Dutchman hit Oscar Piastri, which caused both cars to briefly go sideways. Verstappen tried to overtake through the inside but went too wide. The Red Bull driver said he expected a heavier penalty after the incident.

Verstappen expected a heavier penalty

The stewards contemplated their verdict on the situation and gave Verstappen a 10-second time penalty. The Dutchman reacted angrily on the radio. "Could we ask for 20 seconds? Stupid idiots!" shouted Verstappen. After the race, he said he expected the penalty to be even heavier.

After finishing sixth, Verstappen said, "I was expecting maybe 20 seconds, 30 seconds. I don't know, stop-and-go. It's maybe something to talk about for next time."

The debate's statement therefore reads: Verstappen should have received a harsher penalty in Abu Dhabi. Do you agree? Vote and less know in the comments below?
