History is being made in Formula 1: First female race engineer!

Starting next season, a female race engineer will be active in Formula 1 for the first time. According to Spain's Marca, Laura Muller will become Esteban Ocon's race engineer at Haas for the new season in motorsport's royal class. This makes Muller the first woman in the history of the sport to take on this role.
At the Qatar Grand Prix, after Ocon crashed out, it was announced that the Frenchman had driven his last race for Alpine. Although it was already clear that Ocon would leave the French team, it came as a surprise that this was the case immediately after the Qatar race. In 2025, the Formula 1 driver will race for Haas, where he will be a teammate to Oliver Bearman.
Muller's career in motorsport
Laura Muller brings rich experience to her new role. Ten years ago, during her master's degree at the Technical University of Munich, she began her career in motorsport. The German also spent two years in WEC (World Endurance Championship), working in classes such as LMP2, LMP3, DTM and GT3.
Although Muller is the first female race engineer in Formula 1, she is not the first woman to take on an important role at the pit wall. Among others, Hannah Schmitz, racing strategist at Red Bull Racing, preceded her.
