Brown praises Verstappen: 'He's done incredibly well'
Zak Brown's McLaren managed to win the F1 Constructors' Championship for the first time since the 1998 season, not without having to go toe to toe with Ferrari in a fight that went down to the wire in Abu Dhabi. However, the American believes if Max Verstappen had a different teammate, Red Bull would have also been contenders.
"He is a four-time World Champion, he does have a fantastic car. He had a team-mate that wasn’t quite on the pace. If you had a team-mate at his level, they would have been right in the mix at the last race of the year. He’s done an unbelievable job. Full credit to a four-time World Champion. It’s a mega team," Brown told Sky News.
McLaren's CEO looks on at the situation in the garage next to the Dutchman and echoes the rumblings from the paddock. "It looks like maybe he [Verstappen] will have a new teammate next year. Where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire. There’s a lot of noise about that," the American concluded.
