Mclaren shined brightly at the FIA gala. It was a special moment for the team as they won several awards thanks to Lando Norris and his teammate Oscar Piastri. Norris received two awards for his season performance, and due to their incredible partnership skills, McLaren also collected its first constructors' cup since 1998. Zak Brown, McLaren CEO, mentioned how wonderful it was to bring the championship home after all this time.
Brown was thrilled to receive the constructors' cup
After being welcomed onto the stage, Brown started his speech with, "This weekend was fantastic; in Abu Dhabi, our drivers, our team, Andrea [Stella], and everyone back at the factory did an amazing job. The fight put up by the competition is amazing. Ferrari definitely kept us honest until the very last lap."
The McLaren CEO continued, "Congratulations to everyone this evening who participated and won awards. It's very exciting to be here and to represent McLaren and our great history. It's great to get it done [the constructors' championship] after 26 years."
McLaren has no plans to slow down anytime soon. Lando Norris and Brown both want to win it all next year. They won the constructors' title and hope to do the same, plus more next season. After ending a 26-year constructors' drought, McLaren is also looking to end a 17-year drivers' championship drought.
