Lando Norris missed out on the drivers' world title this year, but he is confident that 2025 will be his year, which he said after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. His race engineer, Will Joseph, also confirmed in the podcast The Fast and the Curious that winning the drivers' title is the goal for 2025.

Norris was able to find out what fighting for a world championship feels like in the world of F1, but in the end, Max Verstappen was too strong. In Abu Dhabi, Norris' team, McLaren, did win the constructors' title thanks to Norris' fine win, but the Briton soon made it clear that his goal for 2025 is the drivers' title.

Can Norris become F1 world champion in 2025?

Asked if Norris has talked to his engineer about whether the drivers' title is the biggest goal for next season, Joseph replied: "I don't think it needs to be said. I think, actually, Lando and I, on a one-on-one basis, haven't spoken that much since the end of the race because we've been dragged around left, right and centre. It's a given that that is our goal, but we don't have to say it as a goal. You don't achieve these things by saying we're going to go and do it. You achieve these things by working out how you're going to do things better, and that's the conversations we've had."

After the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Norris himself indicated that he really feels he could become world champion, which Joseph also saw during the 2024 season: "I think so. I think we've all seen it in ourselves. That first win [at the Miami Grand Prix, ed.] was so important for that, and once you get the first one under your belt, it's not about, 'Oh I can now drive differently, I can now act differently.' It is possible, and therefore, just need to continue doing things well, and it's about recognising what has got you to where you've been, what's worked well, and doing those better, and not just fixing the things that you've done badly."
