Verstappen drove three different cars at the Portuguese circuit, including the Ferrari 296 GT3 of Emil Frey Racing, the team for which his protégé - and son of Raymond Vermeulen - Thierry Vermeulen competes in the DTM championship.
This is not the first time the four-time world champion has got behind the wheel of the Ferrari. Last year, Verstappen tested the car at the Mugello circuit, providing Thierry and his team with important feedback. Earlier this year, the Dutchman returned to action at Mugello in the same car.
At the Sachsenring this year, Vermeulen achieved his first pole position in the DTM class. He was also on course for his first victory, but due to a blunder by his team during his pit stop, he fell back to third place. He did finish on the podium, however.
