It was a huge blow for his fans in Mexico: Sergio Perez left Red Bull Racing after the 2024 season concluded. The huge effect that Mexican fans had on Red Bull's support was highlighted. The team's social media channels lost hundreds of thousands of followers after Checo announced his departure from the team.

After the announcement, Red Bull Racing saw thousands of people unfollow them on both X and Instagram. In the first seven hours alone, the Milton Keynes-based team lost 120,000 followers, and that number has continued to rise since.

Former Red Bull Racing fans and followers are posting screenshots showing that they are no longer supporting the team. Mexican fans are unhappy that their driver has been let go. Furthermore, thousands of fans have since sent Perez digital messages of support.

Perez's merchandise on sale:

Meanwhile, in Mexico, Red Bull Racing's clothing sponsor, Castore, is doing all it can to get rid of Perez's merchandise as soon as possible. A big sale has started, offering Perez's jerseys and caps at high discounts. Many products are suddenly 70 or even 80 per cent cheaper than a week ago.
